Rajouri :

In a major success against terrorism in Pir Panjal region, security forces have busted a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module and arrested three of its Over Ground Workers (OGWs) in Rajouri district.

The arrested OGWs have been identified as *Zakir Hussain, Mohammad Azam and Mohammad Mushtaq*, all residents of Rajouri. According to official sources, the trio was providing active logistical support, food, shelter, safe passage and transit assistance to terrorists operating in Rajouri-Poonch belt.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of *Jammu & Kashmir Police, Indian Army and CRPF* launched a cordon and search operation and apprehended the three suspects.

During sustained interrogation, the OGWs disclosed the location of a hidden Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Following their disclosure, security forces recovered a *cross-border managed IED* from a forest area, which was meant to target security forces.

Police officials said the recovery has averted a major terror strike in Jammu region ahead of the upcoming festive season. The IED has been defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.

Preliminary investigation reveals that the module was in direct contact with their handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) and was receiving instructions from Pakistan-based LeT commanders. The OGWs were acting as the eyes and ears for the terrorists and facilitating their movement between dense forest areas of Pir Panjal.

A case under relevant sections of UAPA, Arms Act and Explosives Act has been registered at concerned Police Station and further investigation is underway. More arrests are not ruled out.

Security forces have intensified search operations in the entire Rajouri-Poonch region to track down the terrorists linked to this module.
