SRINAGAR :A most wanted terrorist of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was killed on Tuesday in an encounter with security forces in higher reaches of Budgam district of Central Kashmir, officials said.
While the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps did not disclose identity of the slain terrorist, officials identified him as Sulaiman Shah alias Musa.
Army said in a post on X that along with other security forces, it launched an operation in general area of Korag, Yousmarg in Central Kashmir.
"Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity, and on being challenged, terrorists opened fire, leading to fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was neutralised," it said.
Officials said operation was still underway when Musa was neutralised in remote forest area of Dudhpathri during gunfight.
Musa, who was wanted for involvement in several attacks on both sides of Pir Panjal range over past many years, had escaped an encounter in Yousmarg hills earlier this month, officials added.
