JAMMU :Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained very slow in the last 24 hours due to single-lane road conditions and multiple disruptions, Traffic Police Headquarters J&K said.
As per the update from 05-10-2026, 1600 hrs to 06-10-2026, 1600 hrs, slow movement was observed at Dawal, Udhampur due to single lane, undulating and uneven surface and at Marog to Kishtwari Pather single-lane stretch. The situation was worsened by breakdown of 04 vehicles between Nashri and Ramsoo and movement of 11 nomadic herds crossing Banihal-Nachlana.
Traffic was managed on regulated manner at Dawal, Udhampur where the road is single for about 30-40 meters.
In view of inclement weather forecast with likely rainfall tonight and tomorrow, public has been advised to confirm road status from TCUs before travel and check J&K Traffic Police social media.
*Advisory Issued:*
- Passengers/LMV operators advised to prefer daytime journey on NHW. Night travel should be avoided due to apprehension of shooting stones, landslides, movement of nomads and ongoing construction between Ramban-Banihal.
- Movement of Kashmir-bound oil and gas tankers will remain restricted on Digdol-Khooni Nalla axis during daytime 0700-1900 hrs as tankers with inflammable material are not allowed through tunnels. Up tankers will be allowed beyond Chenani only after 1700 hrs upto 0500 hrs.
- Goods carriers with fresh perishable/live stock asked to load as per advisory.
*Traffic Plan for 07-10-2026:*
*Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44):* Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, LMVs, Private Cars, HMVs (goods carrier) shall be allowed from both sides - Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.
*Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:* Subject to fair weather, LMVs allowed from both sides after green signal from NHIDCL. From PP Parana towards Anantnag 0800-1600 hrs and from Daksum towards Kishtwar 0900-1600 hrs. No vehicle after cut-off.
*SSG Road Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri:* LMVs allowed both sides upto 1300 hrs from Sonamarg towards Kargil and Minamarg towards Srinagar. HMVs allowed Minamarg towards Srinagar 1200-1700 hrs. No vehicle after 1700 hrs. Anti-skid chains advised.
*Mughal Road (NH-701A):* LMVs followed by HMVs upto ten tyres allowed both sides from Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa between 0700-1800 hrs after GREF clearance.
