Reasi Police detains notorious criminal under PSA

 In a significant action aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring peace and security in the district, Reasi Police has detained a habitual criminal under the provisions of the J&K Public Safety Act (PSA), 1978.

The detenue, Shivaji Singh S/o Jaswant Singh R/o Raipur Domana, Jammu, presently residing at Katra, has been detained under PSA Order No. 02-PSA of 2026 dated 30.09.2026, issued by the District Magistrate, Reasi. The detenue has been lodged in District Jail Udhampur.

The individual has been repeatedly involved in criminal activities, with several cases registered against him at different police stations. Despite having faced arrests in multiple cases earlier, he continued to engage in activities detrimental to public peace and order.

The cases registered against him include:

1. FIR No. 292/2022 under Sections 341/323/504/506/147 IPC, Police Station Katra.
2. FIR No. 106/2025 under Sections 126(2)/115(2)/3(5) BNS, Police Station Katra.
3. FIR No. 258/2026 under Sections 126(2)/127(2)/191(2)/191(3)/109/351(2) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act, Police Station Katra.
4. FIR No. 14/2026 under Sections 132/121/191 BNS, Police Station Railway Station Katra.

Police investigation and intelligence inputs revealed his continued involvement in criminal activities and attempts to establish a network for facilitating such activities, posing a threat to public peace and tranquility in the area.

Accordingly, Reasi Police prepared a detailed dossier highlighting his criminal antecedents and activities prejudicial to the maintenance of public order. On the basis of the dossier, the competent authority issued the PSA detention order, which was executed successfully today, following which the detenue was shifted to District Jail Udhampur.

Reasi Police remains committed to maintaining peace and public order in the district and will continue to take firm and lawful action against habitual offenders and individuals involved in activities that threaten the safety and security of the public.
