JAMMU :Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness overall dry and stable weather for the next seven days with no major weather disturbance expected, the Meteorological Department said in its latest forecast on Saturday.
As per detailed weather update for the coming week, there is no significant rain or snowfall activity likely across the Union Territory, bringing relief to locals, farmers and tourists.
*Today, September 27:*
Dry weather is expected across entire Jammu and Kashmir today. According to forecast, no rain is expected in any district of Jammu region and Kashmir valley. The skies will remain mostly clear and weather conditions will be pleasant. Day temperature is likely to remain normal for this time of the season.
*Tomorrow, September 28:*
On September 28, there is possibility of a short spell of rain and thundershower at a few places. The rain activity is likely over North Kashmir, higher reaches of Central Kashmir, Doda, Kishtwar and higher reaches of Pir Panjal range.
The showers are expected mainly towards afternoon and evening hours. Gusty winds are also possible at a few places during this time.
Light snowfall is also expected over higher reaches. The places where light snowfall is possible include Zojila Pass, Razdan Top, Sadhna Top, Affarwat in Gulmarg, Sinthan Top, Pir Ki Gali, Tulail valley and higher reaches of Gurez.
However, the snowfall will be light and confined to higher elevations only and will not affect normal life.
*From September 29 to October 3:*
From September 29 to October 3, dry weather is expected to continue across Jammu and Kashmir. No major spell of rain or snow is expected during this period. Weather will remain stable and clear in both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

The weather department said overall weather will remain dry and stable and no significant weather activity is expected in coming days.
The dry spell will be favorable for harvesting season, transportation on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, Mughal Road, SSG Road and for tourism activities in Kashmir valley and Jammu region.
However, those planning to travel to higher reaches on September 28 are advised to carry warm clothes and check road conditions before journey due to chances of gusty winds and light snowfall over passes.
