REASI:.The Cyber Police Station, Reasi, successfully traced and recovered 67 missing mobile phones belonging to local residents as well as pilgrims visiting the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine and Shiv Khori Shrine.
According to the Police, the recovered phones are being handed over to their rightful owners after completion of the prescribed legal formalities. In the case of pilgrims who have already left the district, the recovered mobile phones will be sent to their respective addresses through courier/parcel services, facilitating hassle-free return of their belongings.
In another significant achievement, the Cyber Police Station has traced and recovered ₹36.12 lakh lost by victims in various cyber fraud cases reported during 2026. Of this amount, ₹23.60 lakh has already been refunded to the victims after obtaining the requisite court orders. The remaining recovered amount is presently under due legal process and will be released to the rightful claimants upon completion of the necessary formalities.
Reasi Police has appealed to citizens and pilgrims to report the loss of mobile phones immediately at the nearest Police Station or Police Post. While reporting a missing mobile phone, the IMEI number should be provided, as it is essential for tracing and recovery of the device. The IMEI number can be obtained by dialling *#06# on the mobile phone.
Pilgrims who have already left the district without reporting the loss may share details of their missing mobile phone, along with the IMEI number, at sspreasi@jkpolice.gov.in for necessary action.
The public is also advised to remain vigilant while using digital platforms and to report any cyber fraud immediately by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or by lodging a complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
